Whisky Finder is an App created by &Stark Marketing. It is not affiliated with any other organisation.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Whisky Finder Website

The Whisky Finder website collects no personal data. The ability to comment has been removed, so there is no interaction with consumers. This site if for information purposes only.

Whisky Finder App

The Whisky Finder Mobile App does collect data, depending on how you use the app;

  1. Location
    If your mobile device has location services enabled, then the Whisky Finder app will use Google’s Geolocation tools to determine where the handset is in the world. This is to enable the app to display content in order of geographical proximity.
  2. Personal Details
    Personal details are only captured by the App should users want to create a profile enabling them to “check in” to locations. This is not a necessary requirement to facilitate core use of the app.
  3. Payment details
    No payment information is captured on the App or on this website. Payment for the App is through Google or Apple stores. Personal payment information is not shared with &Stark Marketing.
  4. Phone Access
    The Whisky Finder app requires access to a mobile device’s camera and location services. This is to allow access to the App features.

User Profile

Should a user wish to create a profile on the Whisky Finder app, then various information – such as name, address and email will be collected as a “profile”.

The user will be in full control of their profile and may delete it, and it’s contents, at any time.

Contact Form

A user of the Whisky Finder app can contact the owner (&Stark Marketing) for various reasons;

  • To submit content
  • To request content removal / amends
  • Any other query

In these instances, the App and in turn, &Stark Marketing, will capture the senders name and email address. This will only be used by &Stark Marketing for purposes of communication directly relevant to the initial enquiry initiated by the user.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

The Whisky Finder app features a direct link to a third-party website, Eventbrite.

Whisky Finder and &Stark Marketing are not affiliated with Eventbrite, but use their services to display aggregated event content for users to enjoy.

Is a user of Whisky Finder choses to engage with the Eventbrite services, this is under their own control and the transfer of data is between the user and Eventbrite only. By using the Eventbrite feature, users will be operating under the terms and conditions of the Eventbrite website and service.

Analytics

Whisky Finder app will use Google Analytics for the purpose of research and app improvement;

  • Location of users (Country, State, City)
  • Device type

Who we share your data with

Whisky Finder App and &Stark Marketing will not share your data with any other organisation.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or on Whisky Finder, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Once approved, all comments will be visible to App users.

Your contact information

Should you contact Whisky Finder using the app, your contact information will be stored by &Stark Marketing only for the purposes of communication which is specific to the subject of the initial communication.

Additional information

How we protect your data

We take data privacy very seriously. No data will be sold, exchanged or shared with any other organisation.
Any captured data is stored within an SSL environment for increased security.
No financial data is captured or stored by Whisky Finder.

What third parties we receive data from

We use data that is already in the public domain;

  1. Websites of distilleries, bars and retailers
  2. Published content – such as contact information of the above
